
About Noosa Australia
Location
Noosa is the most northerly resort community of the Sunshine Coast, located approximately 160km north of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The Noosa region includes Peregian Beach, Marcus Beach, Sunrise Beach, Sunshine Beach, Noosa Junction, Noosa Heads, and Noosaville on the banks of the Noosa River.
Noosa Heads itself consists of Little Cove, Hastings Street, Noosa Sounnd, Noosa Junction and Noosa Hill.
Tourism provides the foundation to the local economy which now flourishes with over 250,000 holiday makers a year visiting our region.
Noosa has a very cosmopolitan atmosphere. The open air sidewalk cafés and restaurants offer everything from casual to formal dining with a diverse range of menus on offer. If you'd like to take your own picnic to the beach or Noosa National Park, you will find many very well stocked delicatessens that host a huge variety of suitable foods.
Getting Here
- Flights arrive into Brisbane International Airport from many international destinations.
- Bus services to Noosa depart from Brisbane city on a regular basis.
- Maroochy Airport had daily servivces from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne which are met by a local bus operator with the bus trip to Noosa taking just 30 minutes.
- Noosa also has a small local airport for charters and light aircraft.
- A train service runs serveral times per day from Brisbane to Nambour with bus connections to Noosa taking about one hour.
- By car the trip from Noosa takes around 1.5 hours along an excellent divided highway.
Population
Noosa Heads a has a small population of around 10,000 which is growing rapidly as newly established residential centres such as Noosa Springs are developed. The permanent population of the entire region is a little under 40,000.
Climate
Noosa Heads's sub-tropical climate is tempered by the ocean so it is never too hot and rarely cold enough to demand more than a sweater or track suit. The average annual rainfall is 1700mm. The temperatures are mild to hot ranging from 17 to 28°C in the height of Summer and 7 to 22°C in Winter. Light casual clothing is suitable, with smart casual wear for the evenings. Warmer clothing may be necessary in winter and a hat and sunblock in summer.

Dress Code
Noosa's dress code is "casual". For the most part you can stroll in and around Noosa dressed in shorts or slacks and t-shirts. Some restaurants do have formal dress codes for evening dining so best to ask when making your reservation. It is best to check when reserving your table, which is highly advisable in the busy holiday season.
Noosa River
An excellent day can be spent on the Noosa River above Boreen Point on the Everglades in Cooloola National Park. This area is pristine, and hosts an abundance of birdlife. The natural bushland sweeps down to the banks of the river. This is an extremely relaxing activity, there are fantastic reflections wherever you look along this gentle waterway.
Noosa Hinterland
The Noosa hinterland surrounding the Noosa region also has many natural attractions worth a visit. The mountain range that divides the coastal region from the inland plains has many spectacular vantage points. Dotted along the hills are some excellent picnic and barbeque spots with quite good amenities. You will also find cool streams that in the wet season rampage to torrents over the waterfalls above the coastal valleys.
If you have a conventional vehicle, the hinterland towns of Maleny, Montville, Eumundi, Pomona, Kin Kin and Kenilworth all have their own unique attractions.
